Spay4LA Surgery Appointment Instructions
Thank you for choosing Spay4LA for your pet's surgery! Please carefully review the following instructions before your appointment.
Arrival & Check-In
Check-in times:
Cats: 7:15 AM – 7:30 AM
Dogs: 7:30 AM – 7:45 AM
Please note:
Check-in may take up to one hour.
Surgeries are not performed in the order that pets arrive.
Only one person per pet should stand in line during check-in.
If possible, please leave your pet safely in your vehicle with the air conditioning running while we process your paperwork.
Food & Water Instructions
To ensure your pet's safety during anesthesia:
Do not give your pet any food or water after 10:00 PM the night before surgery.
Puppies and kittens 4 months of age or younger should receive one teaspoon of food the morning of surgery.
Vaccine Records
Dogs under 1 year of age: Vaccine records are required.
Cats: Vaccinations can be administered on the day of surgery if needed.
Pet Transportation Requirements
Dogs
Must arrive on a secure leash.
Please bring one bath-size towel or blanket for your dog.
Cats
Must arrive in an approved cat carrier with one cat per carrier.
Place one bath-size towel or blanket inside the carrier.
Approved Carriers
Hard plastic carriers
Sturdy soft-sided/mesh carriers
Cardboard pet carriers only for kittens under 4 months old (must be in good condition with no tape or tears)
Unapproved Carriers
For your pet's safety, we cannot accept cats arriving in:
Backpacks
Mesh bags
Pillowcases
Bird cages
Hamster cages
Wire dog crates
Space capsule/backpack carriers
Taped cardboard boxes
Pets arriving in unapproved carriers may be turned away and required to reschedule.
Community (Feral) Cats
Community (feral) cats must arrive in a humane cat trap (not a rodent trap).
Before trapping:
Line the bottom of the trap with newspaper, cardboard, or a puppy pad to protect the cat's paws.
Zip tie both ends of the trap before transporting the community cat to prevent accidental escapes.
Completely cover the trap with a sheet or towel to help keep the cat calm and reduce stress.

Please note:
We cannot accept bills larger than $50.
A $2 processing fee applies to all card payments.
Pick-Up Information
Once your pet has recovered from surgery, we will text you a pick-up time, typically between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Please arrive within one hour of your assigned pick-up time. Pets picked up later than one hour after their scheduled pick-up time may be charged a late pick-up fee.
Additional Information
If your dog is especially nervous, fearful, or timid, you may need to wait until the veterinarian arrives before check-in. This could add up to an hour to your visit.

Follow all fasting instructions.
Bring your pet in an approved carrier or on a leash with a bath-size towel.
